Yesterday and today

Couldn't post yesterday, but that doesn't mean I didn't scrapbook!
These are not exciting pages, and there's actually a third 2 page layout from the same photo shoot, but I just couldn't scan anymore. Plus, they don't scan very nicely. The background on that patterned paper is supposed to be white, for your information. Sure doesn't look it ...
May have to rig something with my digital camera to get better shots of my pages.

I'm on a roll

Another two-page layout done! It's not terribly exciting but I'm in 'get pages done' mode, which means each one doesn't have to be a work of art (although some of them can be, if I feel so inclined). I don't want them to be ugly, I just don't feel the need to spend all day on a single page.
I have a goal this week: to get two pages done every day (I usually do two pages per "event," so I'd be getting about an event a day done).
We'll see if this actually happens. I have to study ethics and literature at the same time. What exciting subjects. Woohoo.
I've also noticed the lack of journaling on my pages, so I'd better work on that as well.
Jack is stomping around upstairs because I told him if he's going to be home from school because he's sick, he can't run around and play. Apparently my logic is only clear to me, not to five year olds.

I told you so

Behold.
Crafty stuff:

I'm finally getting to the end of Christmas 2005. Which for some reason has been terribly hard.
Christmas Day! Just need to do that.
Be proud, Dani. I'm finally scrapbooking again!
I finished these today in about an hour and a half.
So hopefully I'll be motivated to keep going. Because 2006 is looming large.

Know what time it is?

Time to show you what I've been working on! Complete with crappy pictures! Now with Spam!
Big deal, another layout, right?
Wrong!
I am another layout closer to being done with Christmas 2006! Another layout closer to being done with 2006 altogether! I think I've been scrapbooking 2006 since 2006!
I've been in a paper crafting slump, so this bodes well for my scrapbooks. Except I think I need to buy a new album. I've been using binders from Provo Craft, and there's this part of me that really wants all my albums to be exactly the same with labels on the spine. Which means that in order to not risk going completely bonkers, I must either continue buying the binders from Roberts or I need to replace all the ones I have. ALL 14 OF THEM.
Hmm. Did I mention that I'm cheap?

But I AM doing something!

Started a scrapbooking/card making challenge with my sister. We'll be posting challenges every week or so and anyone is welcome to send in submissions!

Pencil Lines #24 - So Sweet

When I looked at the Pencil Lines sketch this week, my first thought was, "flowers?" I have two sons. Thirteen nephews. Flowers aren't usually part of my scrapbooking. Ever. Then I remembered this picture. Jack LOVED the petting zoo at Gardner Village. and luckily the animals were patient, because Jack wanted to give them all hugs. This goat was especially sweet. Jack turned it's head a couple times, very gently, to see its eyes, and then gave him a sweet little hug.
He wanted to see the animals' faces and give them all hugs.
And he informed me he loved all the animals. Except maybe the pigs. He pet one pig and that was enough. Only Mommy loved the pigs.

Pencil Lines #23

Gotta love Pencil Lines sketches - they give you so many ideas! Here's my latest:
Never thought I'd ever scrapbook a page with a picture of a Furby on it, but there you go. I'm having scanner issues - it doesn't do very well when there's thick embellishments. It makes the color look funny. Any tips?

We're looking for a new house right now - possibly making an offer this week on a house with a great craft space. I'm excited to set up the room how I want. I'm only disappointed with one thing: the room has nice maroon carpet, so I'm going to have to wait a while before I get my orange craft room. I want laminate flooring (great for office chairs with casters) and a nice, non-nauseating orange on the walls. Torchlight 6374 from Sherwin Williams is about the color I want. I'd have to see it in person to be sure.
I'm just excited to start making the space work for me. Someday.

Finally done ...

... with Halloween 2005! It has taken literally months to get through my layouts for ONE SINGLE HOLIDAY! But I'm okay now. The page is done and I like it. I didn't do very much journaling. Really, how much can you say about my brother-in-law's handlebar mustache? Or the fake tattoo on the back of my husband's head? Or the fact that both my parents' sons-in-law went as inmates? Or the 'Great Pumpkin' that my parents' neighbor put on their porch that really talked to the kids? (oh yeah: speaker in the pumpkin, man in house by window talking on a microphone - technology is great!) Every time we saw a pumpkin after that, Benson and Jack thought it was going to talk to them. And my sister came as a pregnant woman. With her inmate husband.

Crap. Should have done more journaling. At least the frog and Buzz Lightyear were cute!

Another layout

I love looking at scrapbooking blogs with 'challenges' on them, but I rarely do them. Until now. Two weeks of Pencil Lines sketches, scrapbooked (the Love Hurts layout was from sketch #20). I'm so happy. I've been scrapping out of order. It's making me a little crazy (where do I put the layouts?!?) but it's okay. I'm handling it.
Here's my latest, sketch #21:

Love hurts

I scrapbooked out of order! What is this world coming to?!? But I like it anyway. Not my favorite layout, but it makes me laugh, so that's good.

The journaling says:
A romantic dinner? Just the two of us? To celebrate our 8th anniversary? Wonderful! We love going out to dinner and our anniversary seemed like a great time to try a new place. A nice place. Enter Flemings at Gateway. Here’s my review:

  • Pros: They cook their steaks at 1600° (kind of cool ... er, hot). You pick exactly the cut of meat you want with whatever appetizers, salads and sides you want. The food was very good.
  • Cons: VERY noisy. Bit snooty. Drunk people (although can be a pro if they’re entertaining). Took 2 hours without dessert.
And then we got the check. $109.91. BEFORE tip and without dessert. Oy. Needless to say we won’t be signing up to be Friends of Flemings. We feel wild and crazy if we spend $50 on a meal for our whole family. And yes, I walked out with a napkin (at that price, I should have taken a handful), took a picture of the facade and saved the receipt for our scrapbook. We had a wonderful night and I wanted to save the memories, even the painful ones. Happy anniversary, honey!

New layout ...

... FINALLY! I'm working on Halloween of 2005. I usually scrapbook chronologically and I'm a little behind. I mean, a lot behind.

I photographed my pages, which I don't usually do. I just didn't feel up to scanning it in. I couldn't get the pages squared up in the pictures, but oh well! Just ignore how screwy the pictures look!

Tuesday, January 23

I made this.

The hope is:
To share my crafts, scrapbooking layouts, art projects.
To talk about who inspires me.
To feature the products I love.
To inspire others to create.

Just a couple things I've done recently ...

This perpetual calendar is
available on Etsy.

Below are a couple layouts I've done. I need to get scrappin'!

More work to do, more things to create. There's only so many hours in the day, sigh!

I made this wall hanging as a Christmas present for my parents - the picture is kind of bad, but you get the idea.

Please share your creations with me!
